Day 2. Clearly our brains were left at school on June 6. Heather and I are struggling through but we've had a FABULOUS mentor in Katie Greene, who is also getting a master's in ed tech while taking this class. OK, she is teaching us this class. We're at Panera, so at least we're having fun and eating well!
We added some gadgets so far and are next going to figure out how to imbed a video.
This is one of my favorite videos because it shows the power of one person, but it also shows how different voices can combine together with very unique qualities to create one piece. Plus, the music is pretty dang fun!
Hang in there Anne! It sound like you're approaching this class the right way in that you're willing to TRY this stuff. Too many people are scared of the unknown and assume that these tools require some sort of tech background. In reality, there are SOOO many tools that are built to be user & learner friendly if you're willing to explore. Also, with YouTube and the myriad of blogs out there, you can ALWAYS find useful tutorials to help navigate something you can't figure out.
Or, you just find somebody like Katie that you can bribe with Panera!
Did Mick show you this or did you find this on your own?! Love it! Great point, showing how multiple voices give it a unique quality. Besides showing this to your kids just for fun, how else could you use this? I could see it going well with one of those "Story Pass" assignments where everyone starts writing a story (perhaps in response to a given prompt) and after 10 minutes or so everyone rotates and continues someone else's story. My 5th graders love it and when I taught 3rd, they loved it too, because the results are hilarious stories literally written by the entire class yet on an individual basis.
Really fun Anne! The concept it fun, and meaningful. I think we have some really creative kids that are playing around with video making. They would love this! I like that calendar, too. It helps me because I am so old I can never remember what day it is!
Hey Anne! It looks good! And Katie is a great teacher! I am glad that you have support! I hope that through her mentoring and this class you will find some tools that you can use to enhance you classroom practice.
You are amazingly talented and funny, Anne. Too bad my crappy computer won't let me watch the video. I'm sure it was very entertaining.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great video! Your students would love to watch it, so engaging and fun for third graders!
